FIBERLite Centrifuge Inc.  As Director of Product Management, main responsibility is to manage inbound and outbound marketing for all regions and business development for the Asia-Pacific region. 
  • Managing distribution in Northern California through Fisher and VWR as non-exclusive channels 
  • Established Fisher (Malaysia) as exclusive distribution channel for Asian countries:
    • Malaysia
    • Singapore
    • Thailand
    • Hong Kong and 
    • People's Republic of China.  
  • Setup Latin American base in Mexico City, managing independent distributors in:
    • Mexico
    • Brasil
    • Argentina.

Computer Access Technology   As Product Marketing Manager at CATC, managed the product life-cycle for the InfiniBand protocol analyzers and was responsible for all inbound and outbound marketing activities for these products.  Key activities in this role included:

An analyzer is a test and measurement instrument that taps non-intrusively into a communications link, it decodes the electrical signals on the wire and then displays a "Trace", which is a human readable representation of the data represented as packets.  Engineers and developers may use this equipment as a compliance and validation as well as a troubleshooting and optimization tool.

InfiniBand (IBA) is an emerging architecture targeted for the data center and storage.Currently the technology is capable of bandwidths of 10Gbps (4X  links) and future 12 X implementation will achieve a bandwidth of 30Gbps.

Nortel Networks  Performed dual roles as Program Manager and Product Line Manager.

As Product Line Manager in the Optical Ethernet Initiative, managed three major Product Lines for Nortel Networks, each with revenues ranging from $5M to $20M each per quarter.  Key responsibilities in this role included:

  • Contractual negotiations and agreements with OEM suppliers such as Intel and NEC.
  • Leading to the cross-functional product support  teams to assure we met business and revenue goals
  • Managing new product and feature releases

As Program Manager, had primary focus on New Product Introduction of L2 & L3 Networking products, most notably, the Accelar product line.  Additionally, pursued interest in process development and created the 3-D Model of the NPI Process which was used extensively throughout Bay Networks and was later adopted by Nortel after it acquired Bay.

Beckman Instruments    At Beckman, I was initially hired as an Industrial Engineer and in my tenure of 8 years, worked through a progression of positions of increasing responsibilities which included:

  • Supervisor/Industrial Engineer - Supervised a manufacturing team in operations. Team was responsible for producing the High Speed and High Volume centrifuges.
  • Manufacturing Product/Project Manager - Planned and coordinated all manufacturing activities to setup a Strategic JV in the People's Republic of China; Negotiated with the Ministries and local leaders representing Beckman on business, technical and logistical issues. Made extensive use of my language skills.
  • Product Planning Manager - Managed the High Capacity Centrifuge product line and championed the creation of the next generation of high capacity centrifuges that enabled Beckman to maintain it's leadershipposition in the bioprocessing and blood banking market segments.

Amdahl Corporation  At Amdahl, supported New Product Introductions for mainframe computers performing the roles listed below.

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Trained in Japan on Fujitsu manufacturing technologies for new products and implemented the methodology back in Sunnyvale. Implemented reliability Failure Analysis System (FAS) and Fiend Replaceable Units (FRU) system in Sunnyvale and Dublin, Ireland.
  • Project Leader - Developed and implemented transfer of new mainframe products from Fujitsu, Japan into Amdahl's manufacturing environment
  • Project Mznager/Staff Industrial Engineer - Planned and directed major factory expansions and relocations to support new product introductions, Projects were between $1.4M to $7.5M each.  Received Director's Award for completing projects on schedule & within budget.

Atari Corporation At Atari, utilized Industrial Engineering methods to assure high volume manufacturability of consumer hardware and software products..

  • Senior Industrial Engineer - Transferred Atari video games into mass production in Taiwan.  Evaluated and enhanced designs for high volume manufacturability.   Interfaced with Sunnyvale design engineers and counterpart manufacturing engineers in Taiwan to assure consistency of manufacturing processes.  Setup MRP system.   Released new hardware and software products from design into production.

Memorex

  • Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Served as start-up team menber for the manufacturing of Storage Head Disk Assemblies (HDA's).  Implemented clean roon systems and process improvements that improved yields of disk drives by 50%.

Northern Telecom

  • Process Engineeer - Implemented and coordinated a MRP system to minimize setup of standard parts.  Trained and supervised personnel to take over the process once debugged.
